Betty L. (Scheid) Buchele, 87, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Avera McKenna Hospital in Sioux Falls. A funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, January 6, 2020 at Will Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be a Maplewood Cemetery in Iroquois, SD.

Betty was born April 4, 1932 in Cavour, SD to William and Blanche Scheid. She attended rural elementary school, graduated from Iroquois High School and Huron College and attained a Master's degree in education from South Dakota State University.  She taught in rural school near Manchester, SD, Bancroft, SD, and Lake Preston, SD, before becoming a teacher and guidance counselor in Worthington, MN.

Betty married Robert Buchele on August 17, 1968. After retirement they moved to Rapid City, SD and later to Mitchell, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Climet Scheid, Lyle Scheid; two sisters, Retha (Jim) Lyneh, Pricilla Pomrenke; and two step grandsons.

Betty is survived by her husband, one sister, Mary Jean (Myron) Baye, a sister in law, Shirley Scheid, a brother in law, Earl Pomrenke, fourteen nieces and nephews, two step daughters, three step grandchildren, and three great step grandsons.
