Betty Lou Anderson, 74, of Mitchell, SD passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, in her home under hospice care. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 8, 2023 at First Reformed Church in Mitchell. A sunset graveside service for family members will be at Friesland Cemetery in Platte, SD.

Betty Bultsma, daughter of Ted D. and Ann (Jongsma) Bultsma, was born in Yankton, SD; she grew up on a farm southwest of Platte. She attended Signal #3 Country School, Platte Christian Grade School, and graduated from Dakota Christian High School. Betty was united in marriage with Jay Anderson on April 19, 1968 in Platte. She lived in Platte and worked various jobs in the area and in Mitchell. The couple moved to Mitchell in 1999.

Betty enjoyed music, playing the piano, camping, baking and flowers. Her greatest pleasures were spending time with her family.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church, Mitchell, SD.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Jay Anderson, Mitchell, SD; three children, Brenda (Loren) Knutson, Prosper, TX, Colette (Darin) Mesman, Platte, SD, Lendell Anderson, Mitchell, SD; seven grandchildren, Tate (Chelsea Henderson) Mesman, Huron, SD, Taylor (Nathan Mather) Mesman, Orange City, IA, Alec Knutson, Frisco, TX, Jaeden Knutson, Prosper, TX, Marina Knutson, Prosper, TX, Nick (Shawna Conley) Anderson, Wellington, CO, August Anderson, Mitchell, SD; a great granddaughter, Alice Anderson, Wellington, CO; a sister, Julie (Doug) Kapsch, Spearfish, SD; a niece, Lacey (Bill) Murray, Humboldt, SD; two nephews, Ron (Shari) Munneke, Baraboo, WI and Trevor (Joanna) Kapsch, Spearfish, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marla Bultsma and Ramona Munneke; a brother-in-law, Harold Munneke.

Family requests memorials be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Breaking Bread Ministries, or the Walsh Family Village in Sioux Falls.
