Barbara Jo Nagel, age 69, of Mitchell, SD died Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Firesteel Healthcare Center under hospice care. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 7, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church with burial at Greenhill Cemetery in Alexandria, SD. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday September 6, 2018 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Barbara Jo Nagel, daughter of Jerome and Alice (Collins) Peters, was born February 24, 1949 in Mitchell, SD. She grew up in White Lake, SD and attended school there. Barbara graduated from White Lake High School in 1967. She then attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, IA for a time before going to work in Sioux Falls, SD. Barbara lived in the Portsmouth, VA area, then Boulder, CO for a time before making her home in Hawaii. She returned to Mitchell and attended Mitchell Vo-Tech. While at Vo-Tech, Barbara met Mark Nagel. The couple was united in marriage in 1983 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Alexandria. After their marriage, Barbara was a homemaker.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD and formerly active in church circle and bible studies at the church. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, shopping, eating out and cats.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Mark Nagel, Mitchell, SD; two sons, Luke Nagel, Mitchell, SD and Shawn Nagel, Mitchell, SD; a brother, Greg (Lavonn) Peters, Pierre, SD; a sister, Cyndi Quizon and her husband Randy Foss, Reno, NV; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins .

She was preceded in death by her son, Angel in 1988 and her parents.
