Barbara L. Kretschmer age 65 of Ethan, died Sunday, July 01, 2007 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 4 at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in rural Dimock. Visitation will be from 6 to 8PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Barbara was born on May 10, 1942 in Lawrence, KS to Vernon (Jack) and Anna May (Tanner) Harris. She grew up in Lawrence and was active in 4-H. She was state and many counties champion in 4-H Achievement. She graduated from Lawrence High School. She graduated from nursing school with a 3 year degree. She married William Kretschmer on February 14, 1966 in Lawrence, KS. The couple moved to Ethan where she was an RN in Parkston and Scotland and was a homemaker. She was a 4-H leader, helper and a judge for many county 4-H events also a youth group leader at St. John Lutheran. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, hunting, fishing, her animals, and china painting. She is survived by her husband William of Ethan, four daughters; Tamara Millage (Craig) of Connell, WA, Cindy Speas and Michael Speas, Denise Kretschmer, Debra Kretschmer all of Ethan. Grandchildren; JackieAnn Speas (Tyler Helma), Heather Speas, Aliea KretschmerWebster all of Ethan, Emmalee and baby Millage of Connell, WA. Great-grandchild baby Helma of Ethan. Extended children; Sheila McCartney, Carla Wittstruck (Tommy) all of Ethan, and Cheryl Hoffman of Brandon. Extended grandchildren; Micheal Rosencrans, Cameron and Katie Wittstruck all of Ethan, and Nakita Hoffman of Brandon. Twin sisters Kathleen Stutts (Cole) Bellevue, NE and daughter Pamela; and Claudia Mirabella (James McFadden) North Pole, AK and son Donald Mirabella. She was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father in law, and brother in law Joe Mirabella.
