Barbara L. Atkinson, 70, of Mitchell passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2023 at Firesteel Healthcare in Mitchell. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Will Funeral Chapel; visitation will begin one hour prior. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Barb was born on March 31, 1953 in Mitchell to Lawrence and Arlene "Mickey" (Mattheis) Engravallo. She attended school in Mitchell, graduating from Mitchell High School in 1971. In 1978 she married Larry Sautner in Mitchell. Barb worked as secretary at a car dealership and insurance company, after having children she had an in-home daycare and worked at several restaurants, her last job was working at the DAV thrift store.  She married Rick Atkinson on February 15, 2005 in Mitchell.

She loved reading love stories and mysteries and in her younger years she enjoyed cooking.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Rick, daughters, Wendy Anderson of Webster, SD, Kristy (David) Hayes of Watertown, SD, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sister in-law Barbara Jean Garber, and 3 nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Robert.
