Arthur Jarding Jr., 82, of Alexandria passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2022 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1030 AM Monday, January 24, 2022 at St. Mary of Mercy Church in Alexandria.  Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service Sunday, January 23, 2022 at St. Mary of Mercy Church.  Burial will be in the St. Mary of Mercy Cemetery.

Made in America. Art was born and raised on his family farm in rural Alexandria on March 7, 1939 to Arthur Sr. and Irene (Bohnenkamp) Jarding.  He graduated from Alexandria High School on 1957.  He joined the United Stated Marine Corps in 1958 and served until his honorable discharge in 1960.

Art married Rose Mary Weber on November 26, 1964.  Together they raised a family of six children on the farm and the land he loved.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 57 years, Rose Mary; daughter, Valerie (Glen) Ferry and children, Blake, Drew, Riley, Carson and Brianna; son, Steven; daughter, Kristi Riggs and children, Isabelle, Emma and Stetson; son, Jason (Karen) and children, Gillian, Kathryn, Cooper, John, and Isaac; son, Terry (Shelly) and children, Christian, Dakota, Delaney, and Maddison; son, Joseph (Heidi) and sons, William and Sam; brother, Bob Jarding; sisters, Jeanne (Tom) Weber and Jo Ann McLaughlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in-law, Edward and Hilda Weber, sister, Carole Kayser, brother, Donnie and grandson, Sutton Riggs.
