Obituary

Arnold H. Kiepke, age 83 of Fulton, SD died December 9, 2006 at his home in Mitchell. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday December 13th at St. Martins Lutheran Church in Alexandria with burial to follow at Servicemens Memorial Cemetery of Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM. Arnie Kiepke , son of Theodore and Regina (Mettler) Kiepke, was born in Mitchell, SD on February 27, 1923. He attended school in Mitchell and following his schooling began working with NorthWestern Bell Telephone Company. Arnie entered the US Army on February 23, 1943 and served as an MP in Pearl Harbor during World War II. He was honorable discharged on December 23, 1945 and returned to working for NorthWestern Bell in Mitchell. Arnie was united in marriage with Frances Bouska on February 25, 1949 in Burke, SD. He retired from US West in 1984 after 41years of service with the company. Arnie was a member of St. Martins Lutheran Church in Alexandria, SD. He was a member of the Mitchell City Council for 6 years from 1966 to 1972. He left the City Council in 1972 when the couple moved to a farm by Fulton, SD. He was a life member of the VFW, where he served as Commander for one year 1965 to 1966, and was part of the VFW planning committee for the VFW Teeners. He was also a member of the American Legion. Arnie was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, especially the Hanson Beavers. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Frances, 4 children Paul (Susan) Kiepke, Mitchell, SD, Karel Lynn (Gene) Critel, Grand Island, NE; Rich (Judy) Kiepke, Woodinville, WA, Mary (Randy) Doyle, Alexandria, SD; a sister Joan Evenson, Omaha, NE; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bennie, Elmer, Rhiney; and two sisters, Augusta Lytle and Lydia Kiepke.
