Obituary

Antonia (Toni) Cherolis Ramos, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and confidant to many, was called by the Lord on April 25, 2006 at her home in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Toni was born April 20, 1918, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, to Anthony and Anna (Kyriakakis) Cherolis. She married Thomas George Ramos of Mitchell, South Dakota on September 2, 1934. While in Mitchell they owned and operated Tom's Caf'. The business was sold in 1964 upon their retirement. Mitchell was their home until the fall of 1993 when they moved to Aberdeen to be closer to family members. Toni and Tom celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 2, 1994 Toni enjoyed playing cards, spending time with family and friends, entertaining in the traditional Greek style with ethnic cooking and dancing. The house rocked during those festivities. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were "Nana's" pride and joy and she dearly loved her dog, Tammy. Toni was an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Mitchell and held various offices in the Bell's of St. Mary's, the church auxiliary. She chaired fundraisers, making and selling crafts, and cooking for the annual Greek Festival one of the largest fundraisers for the church. Toni was also a member of the Mitchell Garden Club and held the office of president. Her flower arrangements took top honors. Toni's special friends in Mitchell were her fellow members in the Overseas Club. Her many friends knew of Toni's generosity and appreciated her words of wisdom and encouragement. Thankful for sharing in her life include her four daughters, Elaine (John Mihalareas) Munster, IN., Ann (Michael Paradise) Aberdeen, SD., Stella Kootsikas Angelucci (Julius Angelucci) Severna Park, MD. and Georgia Ramos Guy, (Gerald Guy), Aberdeen, SD. 11 grandchildren, Michael Mihalareas, Thomas Mihalareas, Sylvia (Mihalareas) and Greg Simke, Maria (Paradise) and David Meyer, George and Lorena Paradise, Andrew Paradise, Nicholas and Melissa Kootsikas, Toni (Kootsikas) Podrasky, Georgia (Kootsikas) and Malachy Boyle, Thomas Kootsikas, and Shannon Guy. 11 great-grandchildren, Michael Burns Pagones, Alec and Nicole Simke, Cecelia and JohnMichael Paradise, Nicholas and Andrew Kootsikas, Elizabeth and Steven Podrasky, Conor and Ryan Boyle, Saya and Skyler Meyer. Her family is thankful for the Hospice Staff and Toni's caregivers, Phyllis Brundell, Marge Rhodes and Sharon Goetz, who made it possible for Toni to remain in her home. Toni was preceded in death by her husband Tom, three brothers, and one sister. Funeral services for Antonia Ramos, age 88, will be held Saturday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Mitchell, S.D., at 11:00 AM. Reverend Timothy Fountain of Sioux Falls, will officiate with burial at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be Friday evening, April 28th at Will's Funeral Home in Mitchell from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., and one hour prior to services at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Mitchell. Pallbearers will be grandsons David Meyer, George Paradise, Andrew Paradise, Shannon Guy, Thomas Mihalareas, Michael Pagones, and Arthur Georgopoulos. MAY HER MEMORY BE ETERNAL Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at Betty's Place following the committal services at the cemetery.
