Amanda Brost, age 90, of Mitchell, SD died February 1, 2005 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Grace Hill Cemetery in Tripp, SD. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Amanda Brost, daughter of August and Magdalena (Hoffman) Brost, was born August 4, 1914 in Hutchinson County, SD. She attended country school and later moved with her family to Tripp, SD. While in Tripp, Amanda was employed at Magstadt Hardware and Northwestern Public Service. Amanda moved to Mitchell in 1969 and continued her career as a secretary as at Northwestern Public Service. She retired from Northwestern Public Service on September 1, 1979 as a Divisional Clerk after 23 years of service with the company. She resided at Meadow Lawn Plaza with her twin sister before becoming resident of Firesteel Healthcare in January of 2002. She is a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Mitchell. Amanda was a former member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Tripp, where she taught Sunday school. Amanda enjoyed walking and spending time with her twin sister, Johanna. Survivors include her sister, Ernestine Hins, Mitchell, SD and a sister-in-law, Louella Brost, Council Bluffs, IA; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and six sisters. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Congregational United Church of Christ in Mitchell, SD.
