Obituary

Allen Bosworth, age 78, of White Lake, SD died June 1, 2009 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in White Lake with burial at the White Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7:00-9:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 PM.

Allen Bosworth, son of Joseph and Gladys (Edinger) Bosworth, was born August 21, 1930 in Mitchell, SD. He grew up on the family farm in Aurora County, SD. Allen attended country school and later graduated from Plankinton High School. After high school, he farmed with his father. Allen was drafted into the US Army in 1951 and served for two years in Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1953 and returned to the family farm.

Allen was united in marriage to Marlene Krell on December 11, 1955 in Plankinton, SD. The couple made their home on Allen's parents' farm. In 1965, they moved to Allen's grandfather's farm where he continued to farm until his death.

Allen and Marlene enjoyed traveling and have visited China, Mexico, and most recently Egypt and Jordan. Allen enjoyed flying his airplane and hunting for coyotes. Allen also loved to hunt and fish which he did with his family and many friends. He will always be remembered for the western, Stetson hats he wore.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in White Lake, SD. He served on the White Lake School Board, the Cenex Board, and the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home Board.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Marlene Bosworth, White Lake, SD; three sons, Mike (Marlene) Bosworth, Sabetha, KS, Joe (Becky) Bosworth, White Lake, SD, Dan (Delesa) Bosworth, White Lake, SD; six grandchildren; three brothers, Bruce (Waneta) Bosworth, Spirit Lake , IA, Richard (Rose) Bosworth, Plankinton, SD, Robert (Janet) Bosworth, Plankinton, SD; a sister, Mitzi (Curt) Fromke, Sonoma, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
