Alice L. Young, age 83 of Mitchell, died Sunday July 23, 2006. Funeral services will be 10:30AM Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00PM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Alice L. Larson, daughter of Jacob and Anna (Anderson) Larson, was born April 15, 1923 on the family farm in rural Lane, SD. As a young child she moved with her family to Volin, SD. Alice attended school in Volin, graduating from Volin High School in 1941. After her schooling she was employed working at a neighbors home. Alice was united in marriage with Cy Young on February 4, 1942 in Epiphany, SD. The couple made their home in Aberdeen, SD where she was employed at Kessler Grocery Store. In 1955 the couple moved to Mitchell. While in Mitchell, Alice was employed at Saterlie Drug and later at Commercial Bank. She was then a stay at home mom and raised their children. When their children were raised, Alice was very active in the family business Independent Oil Company. Alice was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, and the Moose Lodge. She was a former member of the Elks Lodge. Alice enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning. Grateful for having shared her life are her five children, Linda Young, Mitchell, SD Reg (Deb) Young, Mitchell, SD, Bob (Laurie) Young, Mitchell, SD, Keith Young, Mitchell, SD and Bill Young, Mitchell; 12 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Dorothy Larson, Vermillion, SD, Elaine Eich, Mitchell, SD, Arlene Haiar, Mitchell, SD; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Cy in 1995; two children in infancy, Joyce and Ronald; her parents; 4 brothers, Leaf, Chester, Elmer and Jack; and 2 sisters, Alma Hanson and Agnes Jager
