Alice M. Timmins, age 85, of Mitchell, SD died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, August 15, 2011 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with a burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Alice M. Ernesti, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Vopat) Ernesti, was born September 20, 1925 in Bridgewater, SD. She attended school in Bridgewater and later graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1943. Alice then took her LPN Training from St. Joseph's Hospital in Mitchell. She was united in marriage with William "Bill" Timmins on August 2, 1946 in Luverne, MN. The couple made their home in Mitchell, where Alice worked for two years at St. Joseph Hospital as a nurse on the OB Ward. She took three years off from nursing to have three children. In 1950, Alice, known to all as "Timmy" returned to worked on the OB Ward at St. Joseph Hospital for 49 years before retiring in 1994. In her retirement, she enjoyed attending Mitchell High School Athletics and the Minnesota Twins. In 2003 Alice and Bill were honored as "Fans Of The Year" for the Mitchell Kernels. Grateful for having shared her life are her three children, Mary (Robert) Wilson, Papillion, NE, William "Buck" (Nanci) Timmins, Mitchell, SD, Terry (Judy) Timmins, Mitchell, SD; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Pat Ernesti, Sioux Falls, SD and Doris Fenega, Winner, SD and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 2003; her parents; two sisters, Marie and Ruth; and two brothers, Virgil and James.
