Alberta Brakke, age 94, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, South Dakota.  Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 29, 2019, at Will Funeral Chapel Mitchell, South Dakota.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.  Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Alberta was born April 9, 1925, in Mitchell, South Dakota to Albert and Elsie (Radloff) Stainbrook. She married Lloyd Brakke December 11, 1943, and moved with him to the farm east of Mitchell. Lloyd and Alberta raised three sons and one daughter.

Alberta loved to crochet; many people have and use one of her afghans. She enjoyed gardening and especially liked gladiolas. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and canning. Alberta liked to cook and often cooked for the hunters in the area. She was an amazing artist and made the BEST potato salad. Alberta loved cats and had a favorite calico cat named Blackie. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and attending family gatherings.

Grateful for having shared her life are her sons; Rodney (Leona) Brakke, Dennis (Robin) Brakke, and Randall (Kathi) Brakke; her daughter, Patricia (Bruce) Krull; brother in-law, Robert Roberts; sisters in-law, Karen Stainbrook and Wilma Stainbrook, ten grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Phillip and Roger Stainbrook, and sisters, Marian Greene and Ellen Ann Roberts.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, South Dakota.
