Adeline Geidel was born March 7, 1929 to Paul and Emma (Metzger) Stampe in Mitchell, SD. Adeline was the older of two children. She was baptized and confirmed at Hillside Church in rural Dimock, SD. Adeline attended Sperlich School in rural Stickney through the 8th grade. After her schooling, she worked a few years at the Stickney Café. Adeline was united in marriage with Gerhard Geidel on April 26, 1954 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney, SD. On the farm Adeline spent her time raising chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and she always had a large garden and loved her flowers. In 1988 the couple retired and moved to Mitchell where Adeline worked for a number of years at the I-90 café. In 2009 the couple moved into Prairie Crossings in Mitchell. In November of 2010 Adeline moved to Firesteel Healthcare Center. Adeline loved her garden and her beautiful flower beds but she also had a love for fishing. Gerhard and Adeline would spend many hours at the lake fishing often taking their grandchildren with them. They attended Zion Lutheran Church in rural Stickney and after they retired they attended Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Grateful for having shared her life are her four children, John (Mary) Geidel, Mitchell, SD, Barbara (Kevin) Gardeman, Corsica, SD, Gerhard Jr. (Sandy) Geidel, Johnstown, CO, Kevin (Lori) Geidel, Stickney, SD; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard on April 10, 2010; her parents; and a sister, Bernice.
